Father/Son campout

Oh my goodness, were my boys excited about this camping trip. For weeks I have heard, when I go camping with Daddy we are going to eat..., we are going to..., its only x number of days until I go camping with Dad. And don't think it was just Carson. Aaron was every bit as excited as he was to go as well. We were worried that the weather wouldn't cooperate but the rain held off and it ended up being perfect.

They were the first ones there!

The campsite was perfect. It was right next to the lake so Josie could just swim and swim and the kids could play in the water. It was awesome.

We have gotten so much use out of this headlamp.

Lots of time throwing rocks and learning to skip rocks.

And... Carson lost a tooth while camping and apparently the tooth fairy doesn't visit campsites. :)

Carson spent a lot of time playing with his friend Simon.

Making s'mores. Millie was so worried that Carson forgot marshmallows and wouldn't be able to make any s'mores. I assured her there was no way there would be no s'mores.

Josie had the time of her life. Swimming, chasing sticks and animals, eating hot dogs all night long, poor girl was completely worn out by the end of the night.

I also had a very worn out but VERY happy boy the next day.

School's out for summer!!!

Carson had his last day of Kindergarten last week! We are SO excited to have him home now every day and in just one short week have quickly adjusted to summer mode. We are staying up late, sleeping in and enjoying just being at home. We are so happy to have Carson all summer with us.

We sure loved his class this year at school.

Their last day they had an ice cream bar party.

His table.

I can't believe I have a First Grader!!

Spring Piano Recital

Carson had his piano recital last week. He looked so incredibly handsome. He didn't seem nervous at all before but he was nervous when he played. He kept talking to himself while he played, he is a funny kid.

We had a hard time keeping these two quiet during the recital.

Carson is so great at playing the piano and he works hard at his practicing. It has been fun to see how much he has learned this year. One of my goals is to actually sit down and listen to him practice one day a week.  He never fights me on practicing. I hope this is something he will continue to enjoy for many years! (Fingers crossed :)

Last Dance Class

Camilla had her very last dance class for this year. We have had so much fun watching her dance and she has learned so much. Well their teachers had a special treat for their last day of class. First they pulled out bins of dress up clothes and they were allowed to wear what they wanted and change as many times as they wanted.

Brooke was a little jealous watching from the window.

Then they opened up the whole room with hoola hoops, and tunnels, and mats, and all sorts of games, plus face painting. It was pretty much perfect.

Then at the end they let all the siblings come in. Brooke was all over that!

Her cute, little class.

I sure love my ballerina.

Central Park

So Aaron is working on a client in New York City right now. Oh yes just down town New York. He calls me one night this week and asks me if people run in down town here. I'm like well everyone runs at central park. So he ran there, oh just an 8.5 mile run for my hubby. He said it was beautiful and crowded and great weather.

Wishing I was there.... running here right now is awful, it is SO humid! I was just a tad jealous of him that night. :)

Bird Houses

So Aaron cleaned out the garage on Saturday and while doing so found so bird seed I had bought like a year ago to make bird feeders with and never did. So Saturday night Aaron got out all the materials and the Cs stayed up late Saturday night putting them together. They had so much fun making these and I'm pretty sure Carson ended up with way more peanut butter in his mouth than on his bird feeder.

Well the kids were so excited about putting them up in their trees. Camilla started running down the street yelling at the birds, "hey bird, come back, I have food for you." It was so adorable. But not birds came.

Well Sunday morning we were eating breakfast and what should we see? Several birds in our trees. The kids were SO excited. It was pouring rain and they were still eating the seeds and hopefully building a nest.

You can see the red tail sticking out the side.

And just because I love Carson so - he tried on this hat at a toy store - "why am i not flying?"

This is just how he rolls. :)

Rain, rain go away...

Okay not really, I know we need the rain but its been what? 2 weeks straight of rain and the end is no where in sight. 3 cancelled soccer games, fun activities cancelled at school, and don't even get me started on the no recess thing. All this rain has led to some of the following at our house:

Playing outside anyways. Just take off your clothes please.

Muggy runs and a wet trail around Town Lake.

Necessary Sonic happy hour runs.

Brookey and I just watching the rain come down.

Some lazy mornings.

I also avoided the grocery store for a week because I dreaded carrying my groceries out into the rain. I never remember getting this much rain ever. But I try to remember all the people who are praying for rain. It has been a good, ground soaking rain. Maybe in June we will see the sun. :)

Final Field Trip

Carson had his last field trip of the school year. How can this be the last week of school? How can be my boy be a first grader almost??? I'm dying here. But he had so much fun at the park. I went at the end and talked to him for a bit and gave him a ride back to school where they were going to watch a movie and eat popsicles. Kindergarten is the life.

Book Character Day

Carson had a little book character parade at this school. He was the cutest Harry Potter ever.

Of course he wasn't the only Harry Potter. His two best buds also dressed up as HP.

Love them.

I promised this kid a waterfall

And I was determined to deliver. We didn't let the rain or mud stop us. We set out for the exact same hike but this time we were ready!

A stop at the pond to check our the turtles and ducks.

We found lots of water this time. It was so pretty.

Crossing the stone bridge. The kids loved this part. They were such good little hikers.

And the waterfall in all her glory. Luckily there were actually a few waterfalls but this was the biggest. Aaron and I want to come back and go swimming here it was that deep and beautiful. Josie was definitely treading water and loving every second of it. It was not very crowded because of all the rain and we pretty much had this part of the trail to ourselves so she go to be leash less.

Just one more for good measure because I so love these people.

Halfway through the hike we found out Carson's soccer game was canceled so we ran back down the trail to our car to rush home, rinse off mud, throw all the muddy shoes, towels and clothes in the garage, change and make the drive to San Antonio to the temple. It was a perfect start to my Mother's Day weekend.

The Stars at Night

So Carson had his Kindergarten and first grade musical performance and the theme was all about Texas. He did square dancing, sang the Yellow Rose of Texas and of course, clap, clap, clap, clap deep in the heart of Texas.

He was the cutest cowboy ever!

Getting ready for the square dance.

Front row. :)

Just a little video of our boy singing.

He had an excellent cheering section. Camilla loved watching him and cheered so loud for him the whole time.

Fun, fun, followed by cheeseburgers, french fries and milk shakes for our boy who did so good.
